Mira + Beau ~ Wedding Elopement in Canmore, Alberta
Shooting Mira’s wedding elopement in Canmore, Alberta, Canada was the last thing from my mind when I met her in Guatemala in 2015. An Austrian girl with an amazing smile and captivating personality, Mira became a fast friend as we traveled Central America. We shared nerves together as she read her acceptance email to Johns Hopkins in a little coffee shop in San Pedro, and excitement together when I was emailed by an editor at National Geographic asking to publish one of my images. Sharing such wonderful moments in our life together, it only made sense that I would find a way to be at such a moment as her wedding day. After a day and a half drive north from Seattle, I found myself at the base of the most gorgeous mountain range I’d ever seen. The Banff area in Alberta is beyond beautiful, and to have the opportunity to capture a few photos of one of my favorite people in the world, on one of her most special days, was a honor and thrilling privilege.
Though simple, their day was perfect. We had everything we needed – A couple of close friends, a homemade bouquet, a white dress, and a handsome, smiling Australian groom called Beau. Their happiness teemed over into contagious smiles and we spent the day getting drinks, getting married, getting pictures, and getting memories that’ll last forever (except maybe a few memories lost with the night’s drinks).
Though back in Guatemala last year my imagination never took me to the day I’d photograph Mira’s wedding, today I can’t imagine not being a part of it.
I’m so happy to be sharing these images that are so special to me. Love you both, Mira and Beau.
